How long until GTA 6?
OUT NOW
Release — November 19, 2026
The biggest launch in the history of games is almost here. Get the car, the soundtrack and the alibi ready.
The date
Grand Theft Auto VI releases on Thursday, November 19, 2026. The date came from Rockstar Games and has been reaffirmed by Take-Two Interactive, the studio's parent company, on its investor calls. So far there is no sign of another delay.
Getting here took two changes. The first trailer, in December 2023, promised 2025. Rockstar then set May 26, 2026. In November 2025 the date slipped to November 2026 — according to the studio, to finish the game with the level of polish players expect.
Where it runs
Two at launch: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That is the complete, official list — everything else is expectation.
Confirmed for November 19, 2026. Covers both PS5 and PS5 Pro.
Confirmed for the same date, on both models of the console.
Not happening. They lack the fast SSD, CPU headroom and memory the game is built around.
No announcement, no date, no system requirements. Rockstar's own history — 7 months for GTA IV, 19 for GTA V — makes late 2027 to 2028 the reasonable guess.
Rumour only. Reports point to a 2027 port, but neither Rockstar nor Nintendo has confirmed it.
Nothing announced for GeForce NOW, Xbox Cloud or PS Plus Premium so far.
What it costs
Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026. The Standard Edition is $79.99 in the United States — $10 above the $69.99 that had become the ceiling this console generation, making GTA 6 one of the first blockbusters to break it. The Ultimate Edition is $99.99 and adds vehicles, weapons, apparel, Ultimate-only shops and a free month of GTA+ on digital.
Pre-orders placed before November 20 include the Vintage Vice City Pack: a 1955 Vapid Stanier with a garage to keep it in, plus apparel, hairstyles and an exclusive weapon finish. Digital pre-orders also come with a month of GTA+.
Prices observed in August 2026. Storefronts change them without notice — check your console's store before buying.
The game
GTA 6 brings the series back to Vice City, the fictional Miami that has not been a main setting since 2002. This time the city is only part of it: the map covers the state of Leonida, the GTA universe's Florida, with beaches, swamps, smaller towns and the highways tying them together.
The story follows Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval, a pair in the Bonnie-and-Clyde mould. Lucia is the first playable female protagonist in a mainline GTA. Both appeared in the two trailers released so far — December 2023 and May 2025.
On map size: Rockstar has never published a number. The most careful community estimates, built from trailer footage, land near twice the size of GTA V. The larger multipliers circulating on social media have no official source.

Frequently asked
November 19, 2026, a Thursday. Confirmed by Rockstar and reaffirmed by Take-Two.
Twice. The 2023 trailer said 2025; then came May 26, 2026; and in November 2025 the date moved to November 19, 2026.
No. It is current-generation only and Rockstar has no plans to bring it to the older consoles.
Not announced. Rockstar's pattern is a PC release months after console, which would land somewhere between late 2027 and 2028 — an estimate, not an announcement.
$79.99 Standard and $99.99 Ultimate in the US; £69.99 in the UK; €79.99 in Europe.
June 25, 2026, at midnight local time, across PlayStation and Xbox storefronts.
Vice City and the fictional state of Leonida, based on Florida. The first return to Vice City in over twenty years.

Two: December 2023 and May 2025. Take-Two has signalled more before launch.
Not confirmed. Reports point to a 2027 port, but treat it as rumour until Rockstar says otherwise.
Not announced yet. Given the map, well over 100 GB is a safe assumption — clear space on your console.
No official figure. Community analysis of the trailers puts it near twice the size of GTA V.
